Testimonials
Every NHA patient is assured of receiving safe, prompt, courteous care. NHA professionals have proven their dedication to providing quality care to the people of our community time and time again.
But there’s more to the story. Homecare is a very special kind of healthcare. Because it’s carried out in the patient’s home, it’s very personal. As a result, close bonds are often formed between caregiver, patient and family. Here are a few kind words from NHA patients and family members. We are truly grateful to them for taking the time to write us.

Dear Heidi,
There are not enough words in my vocabulary to express the gratitude I have for the sensitive way your dear nurses prepared my husband for his “send off”… Death at Hospice was a blessing. I’m enclosing a little donation that I hope will go toward your wonderful work.

Dear Kay and the other caring staff members,
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your care and support to our daughter during a very sad time. Her boyfriend was your patient for two weeks…because of the care you all gave to him, we think it helped our daughter to better understand the meaning of hospice. Kay, she spoke of you often with very kind words. Thank you all again for your kindness, care and compassion at a most difficult time.
Dear Staff at Neighborhood,
I wanted to thank you for the wonderful care you gave my mother. I was amazed how rapid the services began. Each step of the way we got equipment we needed on the same day it was requested. This became especially important on the day she needed suctioning. The chaplain was very consoling for my mother, even though she only met her once before she became unresponsive. I also wanted to thank the woman how volunteered to give my mother a massage – please tell her how much my mother appreciated what she did. It was one of the last things she was able to talk about. Many thanks. The nurses were approachable. There was one particular nurse on a late Sunday evening when my mother could no longer swallow her pain medication, who eagerly came to our home. Nurse Linda also tolerated me crying and helped us when my mother was still in pain.
My brother and I promised my mother that she would not have pain in the end, and your agency allowed us to keep her comfortable, especially the last 24 hours. The hours we spent around her bedside caring for her and visiting with family and friends will be one of the best memories. She was battling cancer for 2 ½ years and your agency helped her die with dignity. Please accept this modest donation in honor of my mother. I know it is not much, but hopefully it will help someone else and their family.

Dear Provider,
It was a pleasure and comfort to have K.M., RN, visit me, along with at least two other RN's, after my surgery in Chester County Hosipital.
The knowledge, care, and concern of these health professionals was palpable, to say the least!
Thank you for providing this service with such outstanding professional!

To Whom It May Concern,
Please accept this donation as a memorial contribution in the name of my sister. Observing the compassionate and loving care that she received during her final days was such a blessing to all of her family. Even though she was not a patient there for long, each person that we met at your facility helped all of us in so many ways to face the difficult burden of losing a loved one. The staff truly brings a passion to their work, obvious by the comprehensive and complete care they give to not only the patient but the family as well. I would like to thank each and every one that helped to care for her during her final days and I hope that this donation will help in some small way.

To All at Neighborhood Hospice,
On behalf of my mother who passed away at the inpatient unit I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. The nurses and aides were the most compassionate people I have ever met, and their care of my mother went beyond a day’s work. I stated to a few of them that I felt that I was sitting amongst a group of angels, something I still feel. They are truly doing wonderful work and I want them to know we appreciate it.
I also want to let you know that my mother’s field nurses and aide were like family to us, after 20 months. We could never be able to tell them how much they did for my mother and all of us. My mother was in the best of hands with these great ladies, and she knew it and loved them for all they did.

Dear Care Givers,
Prior to surgery to have both knees replaced, I had never heard of your organization. Now I want to thank you for the help your group gave me when I came home after a stay in a rehab facility.
The nurse, physical therapist and aides were all the best helpers you could have sent me. They were all knowledgeable, helpful, caring, and pleasant. I enjoyed them all and am most appreciative of their services.
Thank you and them for the care given me.

Dear Ms. Owen and the Exceptional Team at Neighborhood Hospice,
As you may recall, my Mother was in the care of the Neighborhood Hospice team in the early December 2008 timeframe. Although her time with you was very brief (she passed away on December 6th and was in your care for less than one week), the impact that the Neighborhood Hospice team made on my Mom and my brother, sister and me was profound – of which we will never forget!
The thoughtful, gentle, loving and devoted care extended to our Mom allowed her to pass away with dignity, respect and knowing that someone was always by her side. Also – whenever my brother, sister or I required information or updates concerning my Mom’s health, the Neighborhood Hospice team devoted as much time as required to ensure that we were both knowledgeable and comfortable with the current state of affairs.
In summary, your team is exceptional and allowed a rather challenging situation to progress with dignity, grace, love and attention to detail – we cannot thank you enough for the care extended to our Mom in her last days. It is with this background that my brother, sister and I would like to [make a donation] to the Neighborhood Hospice in the name of our Mom – Carol.
I do have one request to ask on behalf of my brother, sister and I – that you individually thank the members of your team for their outstanding care of our Mom. Your cooperation concerning this request is greatly appreciated.

My mother... passed over last Friday at your facility. There are no words to tell you how truly remarkable you staff was to our family during this very difficult period. The kindness and comfort they extended was only matched by the professionalism they exhibited in executing their roles – regardless of whether it was an aide, nurse or administrative support staff. We are most grateful that we found Neighborhood Hospice for this part of Mom’s journey...Thank you again, from all of us, for the wonderful and caring work you and your staff do.

Dear Ms. Bush,
For the last several years, my father, Joseph, lived in my home here in Landenberg. I was able to care for him as he grew older and was increasingly unable to do things for himself. Over this two and one-half year period he had several visits to the Chester County ER where he stayed for varying periods of time. He passed away on Saturday at the In-patient Hospice Unit in West Chester.
I want to bring to your attention the absolutely outstanding efforts of Ms. Barbara S, who visited the house for lengthy periods after two of my father’s hospital stays. On each of her visits, her nursing skills were of the highest quality. Equally as evident was her caring and compassionate attitude and approach to my father. Her easy nature and friendly personality brightened my father’s day. It was truly remarkable to see this trained professional administer to Pop.
Please commend Ms. S for her performance. On behalf of my entire family, heartfelt thanks to you and everyone there at Neighborhood Home Health Services for everything that was done for him.
Once again, thank you and God bless you.
Sincerely,

Dear Madam/Sir:
I was recently hospitalized for a mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction. Upon arriving home, I was provided daily nursing care beginning April 16. The weekday nurse assigned to me was Kristin F. What a gem!
I just want to take the time to express my appreciation for a job well done. When I arrived home, I was terrified both from the surgical procedures as well as not knowing what to expect. I live alone and was in a great deal of pain and discomfort. Kristin immediately put me at ease and I looked forward to her daily visits. She is extremely knowledgeable and competent and is an asset to your organization. In addition to her nursing skills, she has a pleasant personality which helped me through this ordeal.
This was my first experience with Visiting Nurses and I must commend you on the quality of nursing care. Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,

To Management:
On November 26th of last year my son, Daniel, had surgery performed at Chester County Hospital. The removal of a pilonidal cyst dictated that his recovery would be made at home and would be lengthily.
Within one hour of arriving home from the hospital we were contacted by Germaine W. She indicated that she would be helping Daniel during his convalescence.
We can’t thank Germaine enough for the way she performed her duties. She is one of the most professional, friendly, sensitive, helpful, knowledgeable, prompt health care providers we have ever known. Her suggestion that Daniel would benefit from the use of a Wound Vac, which our doctor finally prescribed, reduced his recovery time, we estimate, by three to four weeks.
Germaine would contact us on a regular basis about every other day. She would confirm the time she was to arrive and then do so almost to the minute. It become so that Daniel and I looked forward to her visits much like one would anticipate the arrival of a lifelong friend.
You have a wonderful woman working with you.
Please let Germaine know how much we appreciate her.
Sincerely,
Dan's father
Dear Neighborhood Health Agencies, Inc.,
I am sending this letter in appreciation of your wonderful staff.
My first contact was with Holly from Health Buddies who showed my wife how to monitor me and send the info to your office. She or Stephanie called to follow up and answered any questions we had. They were very nice and helpful. The staff was always courteous on the phone.
When I was having difficulties, I could always count on your agency. Laurie C. was there to help with diabetes control and medicine issues. Marianne B., the wound nurse, was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to see. All the visiting nurses who came made a difference and I appreciate all of the them. My primary nurse, Dawn B., was outstanding. She is a lovely person as well as a wonderful nurse and I am so thankful for everything she has done.
Amy W., the physical therapist, was great. I looked forward to seeing her smiling face and benefited from her visits.
My wife and I send a heartfelt thanks to all of you for your caring and dedication.

Dear Mrs. Devoti:
We are writing this letter, as a family, to thank you for the wonderful Home Care Aide services that you and your staff provided for our mother.
In this day and age we are always the first to criticize for things that people do wrong and we really felt the Need to express our utmost satisfaction with the Neighborhood Health Agency. Each and every person that came to help our mother were very professional and courteous. What a great help it was to us for you to provide the care that our mother needed at her time of illness. After having open heart surgery, each and every one of you were right there providing her with all the medical and personal attention she needed.
She is doing wonderfully now and getting around very well. We, along with our mother, would like to thank you very much for all your assistance in her recovery. Please let each and every person that visited her that we were very satisfied with their work and she will miss them!

Dear Mrs. Devoti:
I am writing on behalf of my grandmother, to express sincere appreciation for the work that Kathy M. has done to assist her these past few years. Kathy comes twice a week to help us. Grandma is 102 years old, and needs assistance with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene. In addition, I am overwhelmed with two small children and the care of Grandma’s house, where we live, and Kathy’s care of Grandma’s bedroom and bathroom takes a huge burden off my shoulders.
Kathy helps Grandma in and out of the tub, washes Grandma’s hair, styles it, helps Grandma put on a clean nightgown and underthings, changes the sheets on Grandma’s bed, tidies up the bedroom, vacuums, washes Grandma’s sheets and other laundry, hangs them out to dry, wipes down the bathroom, cleans the toilet and sink and tub, prepares and serves lunch. She lets me know when Grandma needs shampoo, or other amenities, and even goes out of her way to make sure Grandma has nice bubble-bath and little luxuries like that. She also alerts me to any health concerns, like some dermatitis and some minor leg swelling that Grandma had last year, so that I can call the doctor.
Kathy’s consistency and thoughtfulness with scheduling also make our lives much easier. She always calls the night before she visits, and gives us very accurate information about when to expect her. If her time with a previous patient runs late, she always calls to let us know the adjusted timing.
I cannot say enough about how grateful we all are to Kathy. It has been challenging to be responsible for Grandma. To be able to share that sense of responsibility with someone as kind, reliable, and thoughtful as Kathy is a true blessing. I recommend her highly and without reservation. She is a credit to her profession and to the Neighborhood Visiting Nurse Association.

Dear Andrea:
I recently had total knee replacement surgery, January 18th, 2005 and had the help of several staff members from the Visiting Nurses Association.
Diane Kowalcyck came to do a home assessment and she was delightful while being very efficient.
My visiting nurse was Marianne Henson and she was wonderful and caring on each and every visit to my home.
Also, the physical therapist, Sue Fitzgerald was very caring and helpful when working with me doing my exercises.
What a delight to have such dedicated staff members.
Please thank them again for me.
