Hospice Inpatient Unit
Sometimes a patient needs more care than can be managed at home, or symptoms require more intense management than a family caregiver can provide. At other times, a patient's support system may break down due to accident or illness. For these instances, Neighborhood Hospice has opened an inpatient unit.
- Our dedicated Inpatient Unit is managed solely by Hospice professionals and staffed by Hospice nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains and volunteers.
- Personalized care is designed around our mission to provide comfort and dignity to our patients while caring for the emotional, spiritual, physical and psychosocial needs in a home-like environment.
- Admissions to and from the unit are coordinated with the patient's physicians and the Hospice team.
- Inpatient services are usually reimbursed by Medicare and private insurance providers once specific clinical criteria are met.
Our Team - We're here to help
At Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit, our highly skilled multidisciplinary healthcare team works together to care for people experiencing the final stage of life. Our hospice team is comprised of a medical director, nurses, physical therapists, social workers, spiritual care coordinators, certified nursing assistants, volunteers, behind-the-scenes support staff and your physician.
A registered nurse is on duty 24 hours, every day at Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit. Our social workers, certified nursing assistants and spiritual care coordinators are available throughout the day, as well as our volunteers, who stop by to visit with patients and families.
Our Care - Compassionate support for patients and families
Each member of our hospice team is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care. Our goals are:
- To make our patients as comfortable and pain-free as possible
- To offer our patients spiritual and emotional support
- To treat our patients with respect and dignity
We also give support to our patients’ families, who often are struggling with, and saddened by, the decline of their loved ones’ health. Team members are always available to listen and to help guide families through their questions and concerns.
